“Dreams” is a collage of animated and filmed sequences. By using the technique of charcoal drawings and stop-motion animation, I used the same sheet of paper to create evolving images, moving landscapes, objects and figures. After having taken 600 – 1000 photos, one drawing became a continuous sequence. Made at home during the COVID pandemic, I worked on these animations and linked them with both filmed and found videos to tell a story about the reunion and separation of two people. Based on three dreams of mine, the film examines in three acts the recollection of a relationship between the lyrical ‘I’ and someone else. Through dialogues and surreal images blending memories and visions into each other, the viewer is lead through a park, a rooftop and a rocky desert. With a non-linear storytelling, I tried to explore the facets of dream logic such as alienation and the blurring of objects. I was interested in telling a story where images and words lose their original meaning and become a symbol for something else. Loosing my atelier and distancing myself from my urban and social environment in 2020/2021 influenced my work on this intimate story. The film is accompanied by self-made music and recorded sounds.https://www.youtube.com/embed/2qm9WvnwXCw?si=Zx818d7ngXjNhLZf
